Conferences & Events
GR8Conf + JDK IO CFP open
For the past 11 years, GR8Conf has provided a high-quality conference experience for the tight-knit Apache Groovy programming language community.
To expand the reach of the conference, encourage cross-pollination across the JVM, and share some of the logistical overhead, in 2020 we are joining forces with JDK IO - an annual conference run by the Danish Java user group covering technologies relevant to the entire JVM.
The new, joint event GR8Conf & JDK IO will take place at the same location as in previous years, the IT University of Copenhagen, from June 2nd to 4th 2020. The conference has a global outreach, where last years edition had attendees from 25 countries world wide.
I've submitted 4 talks. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Gradle
Spring Boot Build migrated to Gradle
@phillip_webb 's twitter thread about the Spring boot team migration from Maven to Gradle.
They chose Groovy's DSL vs Kotlin DSL.
Unlike the Groovy DSL, I find the Kotlin one hard to use without IDE support (may just be my lack of Kotlin experience). With some of the team using Eclipse and its poor Kotlin support, using the Kotlin DSL wasn’t going to fly.
Misc
✅ AWS Developer associate
Follow up from 2020 Goals:
AWS Certification I want to become AWS Certified. I have been already preparing the AWS Associated Developer exam and I hope to take in the first quarter of 2020.
On Jan 30th, I passed the AWS Developer associate exam.
