▶ "Groovy State of the Union"
@glaforge GR8Conf keynote was live streamed and it is already posted in Youtube. How do I feel about Groovy's future after watching the talk? Reassured. He recaps the events that triggered the move into the Apache Foundation and he shouts a clear message We are here to stay.
You can check Groovy Sate of the Union slides too.
Groovy in Action Second Edition is out
I bought the MEAP edition but the finished PDF has been already release. The book has 915 pages. Wow! Needless to say, I've not read it yet. However I read the Database Programming with Groovy chapter this week for some work we had to do in our company and it helped us out big time.
Tip, you will find a GR8Conf promo code in the "Groovy Sate of the Union" video I posted before.

If you want to learn how to do functional testing, check out the @JacobAae GR8Conf talk slides. He does a good job explaining what is Geb and how to use pages and modules to keep you Geb tests maintainable. Moreover, he explains how to use it inside your Grails (2.x or 3.x) webapps.
Geb is really of interest to me because at work I do a lot of screenscraping.

The GR8Conf Issue
Last week issue I talked about Google IO 2015. Next Monday WWDC 2015 takes place. In the Groovy World the reference conference is GR8Conf. The Europe edition was hosted this week in Copenhagen. It celebrated its 7th edition. Amazing talk lineup which will probably feed this newsletter for a couple of months. Moreover, they even have their own conference beer! :-)
Fasten your seat belt because this issue is packed with GR8Conf goodies.
